this is something i am very much a rookie with. i know the box needs to be level on the horizontal but what is the optimum angle or slope if you will to set your sluice box at. when i say optimum i guess i am thinking what slope or angle of attack on a sluice box traps the most gold (flour gold flakes etc etc).
most gold prospectors start out using a gold pan but quickly realize that they will be able to process a lot more material if they use a sluice box. a sluice box helps you process more materials quickly than when you use pans alone. and they are relatively inexpensive so you won't break the bank []
recover more gold with the best sluice box. if you've been panning gold for any period of time you may find that it's time to move on to using a sluice box. a sluice box is a very common tool used by new and seasoned prospectors to find gold. they're designed to be used in a stream or a river and have been used all over the world for centuries.

a long time ago back when i began a local friend had a 84 starlet(?) with a 4ke and he had spent $$ on a ported head and intake. well his ported head had a crack and so after we bought a replacement ke head i gently did some porting mostly to try and match his head to the ported intake.

20191024&ensp·&enspthis week i went and asked "how to size a sluice box" to the crew on a large gold prospector forum and other sluice or gravity gold recovery 'experts' and gathered the list of emails and forum posts here below. as you will see in summary most can optimize or troubleshoot a sluice box but few or none can size a gold sluice box.
as a general rule the optimum slopesetting of a sluice is around one inch of drop per linear foot of box. this can change depending upon the volume and velocity of water being used and/or the average shape size volume or weight (specific gravity) of material that you are processing.
